Why Stain Your Fence?

Texas Weather Is Hard on Wood. Stain Fights Back.

Between 100° summers, sudden downpours and Gulf humidity, an unprotected wood fence starts graying within months. UV breaks down the wood fibers, moisture invites mold and mildew, and boards begin to cup, crack and split.

A professional two-coat stain does two jobs at once: it restores the color of tired wood and forms a weather barrier that slows sun and water damage. The result is a fence that looks new again and lasts years longer — for a fraction of the cost of replacing it.

Replace the fence

  • Tear-out, haul-off and new lumber
  • Days of work and a bare backyard
  • New wood still needs stain to last

Restore with stain

  • Fraction of the cost
  • Usually done in a day
  • Protected for years, warranty-backed

How We Stain a Fence

Our 3-Step Fence Staining Process

  1. 1

    Clean & Disinfect

We strip away moss, mold, algae and gray weathering. This opens the pores of the wood so the stain soaks in instead of sitting on top.

  2. 2

    First Coat

The first coat penetrates the freshly cleaned wood, dries quickly and sets a lighter base color.

  3. 3

    Second Coat

The second coat bonds to the first, deepens to your chosen color and creates a stronger, longer-lasting weather barrier.

Fence Staining FAQ

Questions We Hear Every Week

Don’t see yours? Call (210) 904-2526 — a real person answers Monday–Saturday.

How long does fence stain last in Texas?

Our two-coat acrylic stain typically lasts 5+ years on a Texas fence before it needs a refresh. Sun exposure, sprinklers hitting the boards and the type of wood all affect how long the color holds. We back most fence jobs with a 3-year warranty.

Do I need to replace my old gray fence or can it be stained?

Most gray, weathered fences do not need to be replaced. Graying is surface oxidation. We clean and disinfect the wood to remove mold, mildew and the gray layer, then stain it — restoring the look for a fraction of the cost of a new fence. Boards that are rotted through should be replaced first.

When should I stain a new fence?

Ideally soon after it is built, once the wood is dry enough to absorb stain. Staining early protects new lumber before the Texas sun and humidity start to gray and crack it.

What kind of stain do you use?

We use an exclusive, water-based acrylic wood stain. It dries fast, resists flaking, chipping and fading, gives a natural (not glossy) look, and is safe for grass and landscaping — unlike many oil-based stains.

Can you match my HOA’s approved fence color?

Yes. We custom-mix colors on site and can match any HOA-approved color. Bring us the HOA color name or a sample and we will match it.

How much does fence staining cost?

Price depends on the linear footage, fence height, one side or both, the condition of the wood and the stain you choose. Estimates are free, we beat competitors’ advertised prices by $50, and you don’t pay in full until the job is complete. Call (210) 904-2526 or request a quote online.

Do you stain both sides of the fence?

We can stain one side or both. Many homeowners do the side facing their yard; HOAs often require the street-facing side. We will quote both options.

Do sprinklers affect my warranty?

Yes. Sprinklers that repeatedly spray stained boards wear the finish quickly and void the warranty on those areas, so we recommend adjusting heads away from the fence.
